The most magical time of the year has officially begun. The countdown to Christmas is on!
The best way to enjoy it is to visit the enchanting Christmas Markets of Europe. Gift ideas, good food, hot drinks, entertainment for children and above all a lot of magic.
Today we tell you about the best Christmas Markets in some of our mountain regions.
Green Christmas Market in Aosta (Italy)
From 19 November 2022 to 8 January 2023, the "Green Christmas Market" transforms some of the places in the historic centre of Aosta - Roncas, Caveri and Giovanni XXIII squares - into picturesque Alpine villages.
Every day, visitors can stroll through the "streets" of the villages, between the chalets, looking for a gift idea between delicious local specialities to indulge in some affordable treats, while breathing, together, a festive air with a Nordic atmosphere!
The many handicraft products include: candles, soaps, handmade ceramic and wooden objects, antiques, clothing and accessories made of fired wool and felt, hemp, lace, Christmas decorations, typical local food and wine products, cakes and pastries, objects made with the decoupage technique or with other decoration techniques.
It is also the ideal time to visit the Roman monuments of Augusta Praetoria, the Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral and Saint-Ours or to enjoy guided tours of the city of Aosta.
The magic of Christmas in Val d'Allos (France)
From December 19 to 31, 2022. For all families, Christmas and the end of year celebrations are a privileged moment of reunion. In the Val d'Allos, these moments become magical. Enjoy the Christmas Market, take a sleigh ride, visit Santa Claus, etc. Lights and glitter are in the spotlight during these festivities, marked by the magic of Christmas.
On December 20, at the Christmas Market located in the heart of the village, various Christmas activities will be offered. There will be a free carriage ride and a gospel music parade. At 5:00 p.m., at the Champ de Foire, you will be able to watch the lowering of the lanterns.

Schanze Star Market
A bright Christmas market on the Kleine Schanze: In the Christmas village, the many Christmas huts with winter delicacies, hot drinks and design products invite you to shop and linger - with the added bonus of a large fondue chalet, sheltered areas in case of bad weather, a children's area with a merry-go-round and a dream view of the Federal Palace.
Christmas Market Waisenhausplatz (Orphanage Square)
This is the Christmas market with decades of tradition: at the stalls with Christmas decorations at Wausenhausplatz, you can find roasted almonds, star-shaped Christmas ornaments, Christmas biscuit cutters and other ideas for gifts and souvenirs. While strolling and snacking, visitors are immersed in the Christmas atmosphere. Platzhirsch, Morewurster and Bernese breweries are there for gourmet pleasures - perfect for all the bon vivants.
Christmas Market in the Collegiate Church of Bern
A Christmas atmosphere far from the hustle and bustle. In front of the impressive setting of the Bernese collegiate church, which at 100.6 metres is the highest bell tower in Switzerland. Master craftsmen from Berne and the surrounding area offer unique pieces, which they produce with great care in their own workshops and present themselves. It is also rumoured that the Märitbeizli (market bar) serves the best mulled white wine in the region!
The Alpenland Chalet
A magical hut in the heart of the Kornhausplatz: in this typical chalet, around 100 guests can enjoy a delicious meal and hot drinks as if they were in the Alps. Various versions of flammkueches, fondues and raclettes are served, as well as appetizers and desserts for those with a small appetite. We toast with homemade mulled wine. All the products come from the city or the region of Berne.
Kitzbühel Advent Season (Austria)

The atmospheric market celebrates the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas. Discover traditional handicrafts and Christmas decorations, and sample local food and drink available only at Christmas. A wonderful Advent concert by the Wilten Boys Choir will take place on 8 December 2022. Children's attractions include the Christkindl post office, horse-drawn carriage rides and the popular petting zoo where little ones can ride on the backs of friendly ponies. And on 6 December 2022, St Nicholas will appear to bring sweet gifts to well-behaved little girls and boys.
