Sun, beach and sea at only 2h30 from Belgium!

Welcome to Son Sant Joan International Airport in Palma de Mallorca. We are pleased to welcome you to this Mediterranean island and to show you the most beautiful places of this Balearic archipelago. Famous for its natural landscapes, beautiful coastline, secluded coves, limestone mountains, Spanish architecture, vineyards, market gardens and beautiful beaches.  Majorca offers a wide range of nature, sport and culture holidays to suit all tastes. Here are some ideas for excursions and activities during your stay in Portocolom at the Barefoot Hotel Mallorca, which celebrates its first anniversary in June.
A GOLF destination
Mallorca has some of the best golf courses in Spain. Whether you are an avid golfer or a beginner, the 22 golf clubs on this small island have plenty of courses to practice your swing. It will take you no more than an hour and a half to get to the tee of any of these golf courses, which are renowned for their good quality. More than half of them are rated 7.5 or higher out of 10 on Leadingcourses.com. But be warned, summers in Mallorca can get quite hot, which makes golfing a little less enjoyable. This is why golf holidays are very popular in spring and autumn and can even extend into the winter months.
While there are about 15 golf clubs around Palma, the capital, at the Barefoot Hotel Mallorca, we recommend the 18-hole Vall d'Or Golf course (3.6 km from the hotel), surrounded by pine, almond and olive trees, which slopes gently down to the sea, and the Canyamel Golf course (42 km away) for those who are looking for something a little less touristy.

A HIKING destination
Natural parks, breathtaking views, steep cliffs, centuries-old landscapes, idyllic beaches... Sunday walkers or experienced hikers, Mallorca is full of hiking trails for all levels that will take you to an altitude of over 1400 m. Located on the east coast of the island, the Barefoot Hotel Mallorca is the ideal starting point for many walks...
From Cap de Ses Salines to Colonia de San Jordi, a 9 km walk (about 3 hours) will immerse you in the rocky landscape and the local flora and fauna: wild asparagus, sea purslane or juniper trees and a large number of bird species. From coves to beaches (Platja des Cargol, Cala de Tugores, Platja de Ses Roquetes...), you can contemplate the silhouette of the island of Cabrera in the distance.
A little further north, we invite you to follow a 13 km (3.5 hours) path, spared from tourism, which will take you to the edge of 4 steep cliffs: Cala Bota, Cala Virgili, Cala Pilota and finally Cala Magraner. Don't hesitate to explore the many small caves and especially to swim in these rocky coves with turquoise waters.
We will take the more athletic ones on an 11.5 km hike (minimum 4 hours) to the Puyg de Na Penyal (211m), from the top of which they will be able to contemplate the Cala Millor, the Costa dels Pins and Sa Punta n'Amer. Then to the Puyg de Sa Font, which offers a breathtaking view of the bay of Son Servera, its village and its hinterland.

A cycling destination
Mallorca is one of Europe's leading cycling destinations. There is nothing like a bike ride in the mountains, along the rivers or by the sea to discover the many faces of the island and explore the Portocolom region. 1250 km of signposted paths and cycle tracks will take you to villages, beaches, coves, inland plains or even to the various peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2011. We particularly recommend the route that connects Playa de Muro to Puig de San Salvador in Felanitx. An emblematic route popular with Mallorcans, it is a medium-difficulty route over 5 km, with a 900-metre difference in altitude, and from its summit there is a spectacular view of the whole island. Bicycles can be hired near the Barefoot Hotel Mallorca and parking is available at the hotel.

A destination on the water's edge
Portocolom, nicknamed "Es Port" by its inhabitants, is a charming little historic village on the south-eastern coast of Majorca and is without doubt the most beautiful natural port in Majorca. You can discover its colourful fishermen's houses and boathouses, which house the small traditional boats, the llauts, as you sail along. By kayak, canoe, pedal boat or stand-up paddle, you can admire the rocky coastline, which is sometimes steep, and its tourist attractions: the church, the lighthouse, etc. You can also visit the coves and the most beautiful beaches: Cala Marcal, Cala Brafi, Cala Estreta or s`Arenal. The Barefoot Hotel Mallorca offers you a special package including a canoe trip with Mido Hawwas.

A DIVING and snorkelling destination
Mallorca is known for hosting some of the most beautiful diving spots in the Mediterranean and is one of the safest places in the world to dive. The Barefoot Hotel Mallorca, in collaboration with the Skualo Adventure Sports Centre, offers underwater adventures to suit all tastes, from beginners' diving to the most demanding diving excursions. We also offer boat trips with snorkelling or diving to discover the seabed, in sea caves such as the Caves of Drac near Porto Cristo or in beautiful bays, refuges for gorgonians, groupers, saupes, barracudas, sponges and other coralligenous algae.... You may encounter the many sea turtles, dolphins and tuna that inhabit the island's waters.
